Radiothon 2009 is all over and we want to send a big shout out of thanks to our sponsors and all those who subscribed, came to one of our fun events or volunteered their time during the festival. THANK YOU! Here’s a cute pic of a kitten for you to enjoy. We haven’t had a chance to tally all the pledges yet so can’t give an exact update but we reckon we came pretty close to our target! Ska TrekLet’s kick off with a little well deserved in-house promo. This THURSDAY night is the only and only SKA TREK, which is guaranteed to be fifteen flavours of radness. Not only is it all ages, it’s also BYO and if that’s not a recipe for shenanigans then I don’t know what is. Three unique acts, the cozy comfort of red velvet couches, an atmosphere of cordiality and the coolest kids in Brisbane’s music scene. This was Fortitude Valley’s, The Troubadour, last Friday night. Gathering to celebrate the launch of The Paper Scissors’ (TPS) new “Howl EP” the youthful crowd was abuzz in affable solidarity. (more…)

Splendour before anyone was really awake yet...

12 months ago a naïve 17-year-old embarked on her first fully-fledged festival adventure. Arriving unaware and ill-prepared for the weekend ahead, she departed early Monday morning for the real world with the satisfaction of knowing she’d just experienced one of the best weekends of her life. This time round with high anticipations she packed the woolies – scarfs, socks, gloves – the whole lot, to ensure her Splendour experience was not marred by the cold (although she did unfortunately go sans gumboots. Not ideal).

To start off her 2009 Splendour Saturday she indulged in an obligatory Byron Bay Organic donut. Seriously, these are a Byron institution, if you haven’t tried one yet, you NEED to get into it. It will make you a better person! She caught the last song of Art Vs. Science before rocking out at Yves Klein Blue. (more…)
