Independent Art Extravaganza

Metro Arts has been around for 30years. Obviously I haven’t been going there for that long, but everytime I do it seems to get better and better. Sure, it took me almost 6months in the year of 2004 to get the guts to walk up the stairwell, but ever since I did there’s been no looking back. She’s a tough old broad. You’ve got to love her.

Wednesday night – 7th April from 6pm

Aside from being free, Metro Arts will be hosting opening nights and performance.  A veritable  ‘come one, come all’ local art/independent overload.
With alcohol by donation.

3 levels of galleries
Open artist studios and the
Sue Benner theatre (performing Single Admissions)

Names mean nothing (unless those names are familiar). But shall we briefly preview?

Yes yes, do lets.

>    Local ARI No Frills* are hosting Brooke Ferguson’s solo show Full Stop in Studio 3.1 (that’s 6 flights of stairs)
>    Courtney Coombs presents 11:59 – a site specific solo work – how do you engage with a gallery space? Courtney moves in to explore this idea.
> Judith Kentish will be showing Comforter. Her ‘hair stuffed works’ exploring ideas of disorientation, disconnection, intimacy and distance against the  backdrop of crafting, touching and looking.
>    Speaking of touching, Stephen Russell & Jose V present a collaborative exhibition of sexually explicit/erotic work in Studio 3.2, Kinkdom Cum (2 reasons for 6 flights of stairs)

I think you should come. It’ll be fun.
