Henry Manetta and The Trip

Sex Jazz

Not sure what makes sex jazz but if it is lyrics, smooth sounds, or pulsating rhythms then Henry Manetta and The Trip have you covered on all fronts.

Easily cruising through the ranges of his voice Henry Manetta gives us an album that should not be perceived as “erotic”. Even though called Sex Jazz the album has more in common with classic vocal jazz and modern day crooners. Jazz and swing admirers should give it a go.

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble

Saw these guys live at WOMADelaide and they blew me away, and everything else off the stage. Eight horns and a drummer all from Chicago creating the funkiest sound I have heard in a long time. I had a plan straight after the concert that I would get every band to sack their bass players and hire euphonium players. Way to funky and a big time party band the album does not let you down, but see them live if you get a chance

The Optimen

The Out of Money Experience

Aussie Hip Hop, and a good exponent of it. Obviously lyrically driven, with great understanding and a perfect mix. Samples and beats drive the many and varied stories the boys tell. A new addition to the mix to get bodies grooving.

Ben Sollee and Daniel Martin Moore

Dear Companion

One of my favorite albums of recent times. The political reasoning behind the album is important but it is not so advert that it is distracting. On the contrary it fundamentally adds to the feeling and soul created. Bluegrass is a genre full of expression and love, and Ben Sollee and Daniel Martin Moore do not miss the heart strings. Easily moving between Old Time, Country, Folk and Bluegrass the album has the feeling of two people joined by a cause to write and perform beautiful music. And that is just what this album is.

Sianna Lee

Molten

The first Single from her forth coming Phoenix Propeller album, this bodes well for a fantastic rock album. With the a throw back feel to the wonder days of Hole the single promises wonders that I hope are fulfilled.

Will Stoker and The Embers

Will Stoker and The Embers

First impressions hold. Whether it is a good thing or not it is true. Lucky then that Will Stoker and The Embers kick off their album with a great rock track to hook you in. And from there they take you on a flowing journey through Rock. Throughly enjoyable, proving their musicianship and song writing prowess.

The Art Of Sleeping

The Art Of Sleeping

A good exponent of Shoe Gazer in the mode of Snow Patrol and Augie March. With a singer who possibly uses his falsetto a bit to much, The Art Of Sleeping may have created the next big hit to appear in a TV Drama.
